Two brothers in blood and a third in passion play drifting yet highly focused instrumental music. Special mention should be made of the vocals ; wordless, enraptured, woven into the rich fabric of the music, they aim for the inarticuate speech of the heart and hit the spot with remarkable accuracy.

« We like guitars, amps, feedback, tubes, Fender Rhodes, vintage keys, Kalimba, Afrobeat and drones , we like singing and dancing like sorcerers» say French pan-global psych trio NLF3.

Latest release is a mélange of postrock, electronics and pan-global ethno-forgeries. Formed in Paris in 2000, NLF3 left behind a post punk past as Prohibition (whose fans included Cornershop and Fugazi) to adopt the more elegant stylings of post-rock.

NLF3's music is cyclical, textured, halfway?between movie scores and psychedelic transgression.

The band cites influences?such as Alice Coltrane, Fela Kuti, Ennio Morricone, Can and the early Sonic Youth?while mixing a lot of electronics together with a wide variety of instruments: amplified kalimba, electric guitars and bass, drums, percussions, keys, vocals.

They share a pool of principles and constructions with their cousins Battles, Tortoise, GodSpeedYou or Animal Collective, (all of whom the group have toured with).

Don't let it get away. 8/10 Drowned In Sound "The French space-rock-kraut outfit just nails it with every new album.

They seem to be from a parallel universe anyway, so hopefully at least there NLF3 will lead the charts for weeks to come.
