VIRGIL & THE ACCELERATORS
THE RADIUM (MYSTIC)
Named after a South African beer hall where Virgil McMahon would roadie for his Father when a young child "The Radium" has already been described by one reviewer as "the most impressive debut by a young band that I have heard in years" The Radium features eleven "high octane" blues/rock numbers led by the virtuoso guitar playing of 20 year old Virgil McMahon, surely a future "guitar hero" in the making, backed by the powerful rhythm section of younger bother Gabriel on drums/backing vocals and Jack Timmis on bass/keyboards/backing vocals.
Virgil McMahon will often cite a number of influences on his playing but although in places you can hear a nod to those guitarists both contemporary and from the past, what comes across on The Radium is that Virgil has developed a playing style that is unique.
At such a young age he should be guaranteed a hugely successful career. Virgil And The Accelerators will be on tour in the UK throughout September, October and November to promote the release.
Their busy schedule also includes four shows with ROBIN TROWER, three shows with URIAH HEEP, two with SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY, two with BLACKFOOT and one with ROY WOOD - nobody is going to enjoy following this band on stage!
