CITY LIGHT THIEF
"On their debut, CITY LIGHT THIEF present a clever mixture of Indie, Punk, Pop, and Post-Core. Rarely are you going to hear just one voice on this one - "Laviin" (which, fittingly, is Estonian for "avalanche") has lots and lots of choirs that keep dueling, branching, coalescing.
The ten compositions on "Laviin" make you forget that you are actually listening to a very young band (and one from Germany, of all places!).
"Laviin" is wild, "Laviin" is loud, "Laviin" is quiet, "Laviin" is emotional, and above all, it is one-of-a-kind.
At some points you might be reminded of old TAKING BACK SUNDAY. Other, more playful and/or chaotic parts may evoke comparisons to FALL OF TROY or even AT THE DRIVE-IN, while the pop-appeal could be blamed on MINUS THE BEAR...or maybe someone listened to TRIP FONTAINE for too long? We don't know for sure.
What we do know, however, is that "Laviin" proves to be a very special record for both the band and the label - and hopefully for you as well."
