Reissue of the almost full Quinteplus' self-titled album (1971) plus additionall live tracks, bringing back a vital chapter of Argentine jazz history, revealing a band that was truly ahead of the curve and still resonates powerfully today.

This compilation combines the first 6 tracks (of 8) from Quinteplus' self-titled album with the original 4 tracks from Grabado En Vivo 1972 (1988, Quinteplus live).

The band was a short lived jazz unit that grew out of Agrupación Nuevo Jazz (New Jazz Collective), a loose organization in the late '60s that provided an open environment to experiment with Argentine folk genres in a jazz mode.

Most tracks feature crisp trumpet and tenor sax up front, confidently led by electric piano parts that open things up with a sharp mix of funk and modal influences.

The rhythm section shines as well-the drums and bass are tight and punchy, yet they leave plenty of air, creating a spacious feel that at times brings to mind the classic Cannonball Adderley and Joe Zawinul soul jazz sound.

The record is a refined showcase of the band's musical vision: original compositions, fluent jazz language, folk-derived rhythms, funky electric textures, tight ensemble playing, and standout brass solos.

Though critically praised, the album received little label support and sold modestly, eventually becoming a sought-after collector's item.

11-track CD reissue comes complete with liner notes detailing band biography.
