Das mit Spannung erwartete neue Album der Indie-Pop-Band LUCIUS, „Second Nature“, erscheint heute digital bei Second Nature Records/Secretly Distribution. Die physische Veröffentlichung via LP und CD erfolgt am 22. April 2022.

„Second Nature“, produziert von Dave Cobb und Brandi Carlile, ist ein Porträt der Sängerinnen und Songwriterinnen Holly Laessig und Jess Wolfe, die sich gegenseitig in ihren Lebensumbrüchen - Mutterschaft, Scheidung, ungeplante Karrierepausen - begleiten und diese in Musik umsetzen. Im Vorfeld der Veröffentlichung hat die Band bereits vier Album-Tracks veröffentlicht: „Dance Around It“, „Heartbursts“, „White Lies“ und „Next To Normal“.

Um die Veröffentlichung von „Second Nature“ gebührend zu feiern, werden LUCIUS nach einer ausgedehnten Headline-Tour durch Nordamerika auch eine Reihe von Europa-Shows im September absolvieren.

Das 10-Song-Album „Second Nature“ wurde hauptsächlich in Nashvilles historischem RCA Studio A aufgenommen. Es wurde von Holly Laessig und Jess Wolfe geschrieben und von ihren langjährigen Bandmitgliedern Peter Lalish, Dan Molad und Solomon Dorsey eingespielt, mit zusätzlichen Gast-Beiträgen von DREW ERICKSON, ROB MOOSE und GABRIEL CABEZAS, gemischt von Rob Kinelski und Dan Molad sowie BRANDI CARLILE und SHERYL CROW als Background-Sängerinnen.

„It is a record that begs you not to sit in the difficult moments, but to dance through them”, sagt Wolfe. „It touches upon all these stages of grief—and some of that is breakthrough, by the way. Being able to have the full spectrum of the experience that we have had, or that I’ve had in my divorce, or that we had in lockdown, having our careers come to a halt, so to speak. I think you can really hear and feel the spectrum of emotion and hopefully find the joy in the darkness. It does exist. That’s why we made „Second Nature“ and why we wanted it to sound the way it did: our focus was on dancing our way through the darkness.”

BRANDI CARLILE erzählt von der Arbeit an dem Projekt: „LUCIUS has been one of my favorite bands since their first studio album. I kept running into them at festivals and finding myself mystified by their power. This album feels like home to me and anyone growing up surrounded by 80s and 90s pop, but somehow „Second Nature“ is the beginning of a new era—not just for LUCIUS, but for all of us. We need to get back up on our feet and that’s what this album is insisting we do. This is my first co-production with my dear pal Dave Cobb and I don’t know if I’ve ever been prouder even to witness something let alone get my hands on it. It was an absolute blast.”

„Second Nature“ ist das dritte Album von LUCIUS und das erste seit „Good Grief“. Seit ihrem Debüt im Jahr 2013 wurden sie von der Presse hochgelobt und haben zusätzlich zu ihrer Arbeit für LUCIUS Aufnahmen mit SHERYL CROW, HARRY STYLES, THE WAR ON DRUGS, OZZY OSBORNE und JOHN LEGEND gemacht und sind ausgiebig mit ROGER WATERS getourt.
