SUPERCHUNK teilen neue Single „This Night“ mit Lyric Video Neues Album „Wild Loneliness“ erscheint am 25. Februar 2022 via Merge Records

Am 25. Februar erscheint mit „Wild Loneliness“ von SUPERCHUNK ein Album, das von The A.V. Club („We're never going to be not excited about a new SUPERCHUNK album“), BrooklynVegan („North Carolina indie rock icons“), Paste („For fans of infectious power pop and indie rock, SUPERCHUNK are here to save the day“) und vielen anderen heiß erwartet wird!

Noch vor der Veröffentlichung stellen SUPERCHUNK den Opener der B-Seite des Albums, „This Night“, mit Streichern von Owen Pallett und Backgroundgesang von Tracyanne Campbell (CAMERA OBSCURA, TRACYANNE & DANNY) vor.

SUPERCHUNK Mastermind und Sänger Mac McCaughan sagt dieses über „This Night“:
Like much of „Wild Loneliness“, this song was written in the mode of “let’s look around and be thankful for what we have rather than focusing on what Republicans have taken from an entire generation”; it’s nostalgic but in a way that tries to capture what’s still relevant and positive about long relationships. So, backwards- and forwards-looking about music, love, day-to-day life. The song itself reminded me of some of my favorite pop bands like CAMERA OBSCURA, and through the magic of technology (and maybe the only good thing about the internet?), we are lucky to have Tracyanne Campbell lending her inimitable voice to the song.“

„Wild Loneliness“ ist ein Album, das von der Dichterin Maggie Smith treffend als „unskippably excellent and infectious… a blend of stripped-down and lush, electric and acoustic, highs and lows.“ Ferner sagt sie über das neue SUPERCHUNK Album:

„On „Wild Loneliness“ I hear echoes of „Come Pick Me Up”, „Here’s To Shutting Up”, and „Majesty Shredding”. After the (ahem, completely justifiable) anger of „What A Time To Be Alive”, this new record is less about what we’ve lost in these harrowing times and more about what we have to be thankful for. (I know something about gratitude. I’ve been a huge SUPERCHUNK fan since the 1990s, around the same time I first found my way to poetry, so the fact that I’m writing these words feels like a minor miracle.)"
