Eschewing modern technology for the familiar sound of analog tape, Piebald's newest collection, Accidental Gentlemen reflects the band's characteristic duality.

"We're gentlemen at heart, but a bit sloppy by nature," explains singer/guitarist Travis Shettel of his band's fifth studio album, whose driving, crunchy guitars hark back to the band's punk rock roots.

The 12-song collection, fleshed out in a mere two weeks with producer Doug Batchelder at his Opium Den in North Reading, Mass, captures the band's intense urgency and pointed subject matter.

Ranging from topics such as nature vs. man ("Nature Wins"), street violence ("Getting Mugged and Loving It") and a consumer-driven society ("There's Always Something Better to Do"), the songs were given the final touches by acclaimed mixer/ producer Alex Newport (At the Drive-In, The Mars Volta, Two Gallants) who leant his mixing skills to the wry recordings.

The band has previewed the new material to enthusiastic audiences on the road in October & November while on tour with Say Anything and MeWithoutYou.

True to their eco-friendly way, they are saving thousands of dollars in gasoline by traveling the U.S.

in their grease-fueled, bio-diesel-burning van.
