Alexis Korner and British blues. The latter could not have existed without the former and 1962's R&B from the Marquee (actually recorded in London's Decca studio) is often cited as being the very first British blues album.

Although it is difficult to imagine, up until the early sixties the blues was still a well kept secret in Europe, and Korner's repertoire of standard blues numbers was nothing short of revolutionary.

The Rolling Stones may have gotten all the recognition, but Korner was their prophet.
