Pünktlich zu seinem Debüt Watercolor, das heute auf Sub Pop Records erscheint veröffentlicht der aufstrebende Seattler Rapper Porter Ray sein traumartiges Video zu Past Life.

Gefilmt wurde in Porters Heimatstadt Seattle unter der Regie von Patrick O’Brien-Smith. Auf dem bittersüßen Past Life – feat. Cashtro und Black – reflektiert Ray seine bewegte Jugend, den Verlust von Familienmitgliedern und Freunden, Missgeschicke und vieles mehr. Der zurückgelehnte aber dennoch fesselnde Stil des Rappers, die lebhaften lyrische Schablonen und kraftvolle Geschichten sind auf Verletzlichkeit und unbeirrbarer Ehrlichkeit gebaut.

Porter Ray hat bei Sub Pop unterzeichnet, nachdem Shabazz Palaces Gründer und Label A&R Ishmael Butler auf ihn aufmerksam wurde. Porter wird nächste Woche ein paar Shows bei SXSW spielen:
